The gardens themselves are dog-friendly on leads, with wide paths through the rock garden and around the main pond, an easy 30-45 minute loop. For something longer, Endcliffe Park and the Porter Brook trail are a short walk away, following the river most of the way into the city.
The hamlet's courtyard and grounds are dog-friendly, and the Sheffield & Chesterfield Canal towpath runs close by for a flatter, longer walk. Further out, the Limb Valley and Ecclesall Woods both give proper woodland walking without leaving the south-west of the city.
The Five Weirs Walk follows the River Don from right outside the museum, flat and well-surfaced for older or younger dogs. It's an easy 20-minute there-and-back to the first weir, or a longer route if you're up for it.
Dogs are welcome on our outdoor terraces at all three cafés, with water bowls out year-round. Weekends get busy, so if you're coming straight from a walk, an early or late table is the easiest way to get outdoor seating.
